Q: Can I apply this over previously painted or sealed concrete?
A: Yes, however, for best results and optimum durability concrete stains require an unsealed, bare surface to penetrate and bond correctly. All previous paints, sealers, mastics, or curing compounds must be completely removed mechanically or with a safe chemical stripper before application. If you have no choice and want to apply a concrete color finish, you can help increase adhesion by sanding the existing surface to provide a profile to adhere better.
Q: How long do I need to wait to stain newly poured concrete?
A: New concrete must be allowed to fully cure before applying any stain or sealer. The industry standard is a minimum of 28 days. Applying stain before the concrete is fully cured can result in moisture entrapment, poor adhesion, and color failure.

A: Because SoyCrete is a water-based, zero-VOC formulation, clean-up is fast and easy. Simply flush your pump sprayer, brushes, and microfiber pads thoroughly with warm, soapy water immediately after use. Do not allow the product to dry on your tools, as cured polyurethane is very difficult to remove.
Q: What is the best way to clean and maintain my stained concrete floor?
A: For routine cleaning, sweep or dust mop regularly to remove abrasive dirt and grit. Wash the surface using a damp mop and a gentle, pH-neutral cleaner (like EcoFast 500). Never use harsh chemicals, bleach, ammonia, or acidic cleaners, as these can dull the finish and damage the sealer over time.
Q: What should I do if I accidentally spill the stain on an unwanted area?
A: Wipe up spills immediately with a wet rag or sponge while the stain is still wet. Because it is a penetrating polyurethane binder, once it cures into a porous surface, it becomes difficult to remove and will require mechanical grinding or a safe, heavy-duty chemical stripper to remove.
Q: Do I need to wax the floor after staining and sealing? A: It depends entirely on which clear topcoat you choose. If you seal your floor with our high-performance bio-polyurethanes, like EcoPoly or EcoTuff, do not apply wax. Waxing over these finishes is counterproductive and will actually negate the advanced durability and performance of the polyurethane. However, if you are using our Acri-Soy Penetrating Sealer, applying a sacrificial commercial floor wax or polish is a compatible for high-traffic interior areas (such as retail spaces, restaurants, or busy living rooms). A wax layer absorbs the daily wear and tear, and you can easily reapply it without ever having to re-seal or touch up the actual stain.
Q: How do I safely dispose of leftover product?
A: While SoyCrete is non-toxic and eco-friendly, you should never pour leftover stain down the drain or into storm sewers. Allow any small amounts of leftover product to dry out completely in the container (you can add kitty litter or a commercial paint hardener to speed this up). Once fully solidified, it can typically be disposed of with your standard household or commercial trash in accordance with your local regulations.
