Custom Color Matching Options

Semi-transparent and semi-solid concrete stain colors cannot be color matched like a solid color paint. To ensure we meet the exact design requirements of your specific project, we offer two distinct color-matching pathways for manufacturer color decks and physical swatches:

    • Standard Color Match (Unverified): We tint your stain to the best available formulation for your selected manufacturer deck or physical swatch. This produces a highly accurate commercial match. This option is ideal for standard applications where an absolute, physically verified match is not critical.

    • Color Match Validated: Our premium precision tier. We custom-tint the formula to your requested deck or physical swatch, but the batch is not released until it passes a strict physical validation by the customer against the target color. This service is strongly recommended for strict architectural requirements or any commercial project where minimizing color variance is mandatory.


How to Apply SoyCrete Decorative Concrete Stain

SoyCrete is a penetrating, bio-based stain. For a successful application, the concrete must be clean, highly porous, and free of any previous sealers, paints, or curing compounds.

Phase 1: Surface Preparation (Crucial Step)

The substrate must be porous enough to absorb the stain.

  1. The Water Drop Test: Drop a small amount of water onto various areas of the concrete. If it absorbs and darkens the concrete within 5–15 seconds, the surface is ready. If it beads up, the surface must be mechanically ground or chemically etched.
  2. Clean & Etch: Thoroughly clean the surface to remove dirt, grease, and oil. For dense or machine-troweled concrete, we highly recommend using Eco-Etch Pro Concrete Etch & Cleaner to open the concrete pores.
  3. Rinse & Dry: Unlike traditional acid stains, SoyCrete does not require hazardous chemical neutralization. Simply scrub rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water to remove any prep residue and allow the concrete to dry completely before staining.
Phase 2: Application

Note: Always test a small, inconspicuous area first to verify color and absorption rates.

  1. Mix: Stir the SoyCrete stain thoroughly before and occasionally during use to ensure the color pigments remain evenly suspended. Do not thin.
  2. Apply: * For a Variegated/Natural Stone Look: Apply using a high-quality pump sprayer with a conical tip. Spray in a random, circular figure-eight motion. Work the stain into the concrete pores using a microfiber applicator pad spreading in small sections to better control and feather out a wet edge. Spread the stain until their is no wet topical stain to spread.
  3. Avoid Puddling: Do not allow the stain to puddle. Never roll. If excess liquid accumulates, mop it up to prevent uneven color spots or over saturation of topical residue.
  4. Additional Coats: Depending on the desired color intensity, a second coat can be applied, but only if their is sufficient porosity to accept the stain. Wait until the first coat is dry to the touch (typically 1 to 2 hours, depending on temperature and humidity). You may also dilute the second application up to 15% water to lessen the amount of pigment and to use adjust for accent highlights in the design.
Phase 3: Dry Time & Clean-Up
  • Return to Service: Allow the final coat to dry for at least 4 to 6 hours before allowing light foot traffic.
  • Clean-Up: Because SoyCrete is non-toxic and zero-VOC, simply clean your sprayers, brushes, and tools with warm, soapy water immediately after use. No hazmat disposal is required.
Phase 4: Sealing (Highly Recommended)

While SoyCrete permanently colors the concrete, it is a penetrating stain and does not leave a protective surface film. To protect your newly stained floor, patio, or countertop from wear, spills, and UV damage, we strongly recommend top-coating with a high-performance clear sealer such as Eco-Tuff Polyurethane Clear Coating, EcoPoly Sealer & Finish, or Acri-Soy Penetrating Sealer.

  • Wait at least 6 hours after the final stain application before applying a sealer.
