During the 1980's Mr. John Bennett was introduced to innovative alternative water-based solutions used in the aerospace, transportation, and automotive industries. During that time, he was deeply affected by learning how much of an economic, human, and environmental impact these safer chemistries would have. This experience embarked on a journey to discover more impactful alternative solutions and to determine where those solutions would be needed the most.
It became apparent that the architectural paints and coatings industry affects every person who lives, works, or visits any building structure. It also includes product finishes on wood, concrete and composite products within those structures. The medical community has identified poor indoor air quality as a significant health hazard, and environmental scientists has proven carbon emissions is impacting our global climate. The need to eliminate hazardous airborne and toxic waste contaminants while helping to reduce carbon emissions, was a mission worthy of dedicating one's life to offering alternative solutions.
It was no secret that petrochemicals are a major contributor to these toxic consequences, not to mention other hazardous conditions such as noxious odors and combustibility. Mr. Bennett discovered that many plant-based oils and plant extracts replicate the same performance characteristics as petrochemicals but without compromising health, costs, or negative effects on the environment. By thinking out of the box to disrupt a behemoth industry, he would start his mission-based effort to offer safer solutions for the betterment of human and environmental welfare.
In 2004, Eco Safety Products (ESP) was founded on its sustainable mission and launched a full line of safer non-toxic coatings and chemicals made with renewable resource ingredients under the EcoProCote brand name. From the homeowner to Fortune 500 organizations, ESP has achieved end user sustainability and performance goals around the globe. ESP is regarded as a bio-renewable chemical products pioneer from its inception and is still today the only full line bio-renewable paint and chemicals manufacturer in the U.S. There is an urgent need to continue to reduce carbon emissions, improve indoor air quality, and meet transparency demands of its consumers. ESP strives to source new and improved bio-renewable raw materials and will never settle in its quest of continual improvement.

OUR COMMITMENT TO SAFETY & SUSTAINABILITY: We thoroughly evaluate and screen every raw material ingredient using a third-party service partner that compares the ingredient data against the most current GreenScreen, Chemical Scorecard, and Red List Chemical databases prior to launching a product development project. Additionally, every supplier must agree to participate in our full ingredient transparency program to ensure every ingredient is measured to a minimum 1,000 ppm and most to 100 ppm, that can be screened for USGBC LEED v4, Health Product Declaration (HPD), and other leading Green Building program reports.
OUR MANDATORY PRODUCT ATTRIBUTES:
All our products must meet three evaluation criteria before release for sale to the public once it has passed our chemical screening process. (1) Sustainability: The product must contain renewably sourced ingredients, contain no red list chemicals, and meet the most stringent VOC Emissions Test. (2) Performance: The product must achieve the same or better performance results than its nearest same in class competitor. (3) Value: The product retail cost and/or true cost of ownership must be lower or equal to its nearest same in class competitor.
